The original building was constructed in 1949 with subsequent additions in 1955, 1957, 1970. In 1985 the firm of J. A. Matthew Architect Ltd. was retained to provide total modernization of the existing facility and add 1,135m² to resolve the spatial and functional inadequacies of the school. These challenges included handicapped accessibility, circulation problems and working with the abundance of rigid concrete walls. This project was completed under budget after experiencing a tender price of $600,000.00 under pre-tender estimate.
