In 1997 J. A. Matthew Architect Ltd. collaborated with other local architects to create the firm Horton Ferrari Matthew Westwood Architects Ltd. which won the competition to design the new city hall. This project was designed to be a centennial project, and was successfully completed by the summer of 2000 within budget at a cost of $20,000,000.00. This project is now one of the major landmarks in the City of Lethbridge.
